Any increases in the price of fishing reflects the ever increasing cost to us of the fish with which we restock the lake.
The difference between “catch and release” and “fish kept” reflects only that cost. Only a maximum of two fish may be kept.

About Blencarn Lake
Blencarn Lake is as natural looking a body of water as you’ll come across, spring fed as it is from Crossfell and the upper Pennines.
And yet it’s a man-made lake, the idea and the legacy of Ken Stamper, late of Blencarn Hall, who created this place of beauty from a boggy piece of farm land. The lake has offered scenic and peaceful trout fishing for over 40 years since then.
See what The Cumberland & Westmorland Herald’s Terry Cousins had to say when Ken passed away.
Extending to fifteen acres, the water is home to the indigenous brown trout and is stocked regularly with rainbow trout. There is a fishermen’s room with wash up, kettle and seating area. Car parking is available on site in addition to ladies’ and gents’ toilets.
You will require a rod fishing licence to fish at Blencarn. Click here for further information.
